| Little Bay is the future capital of Montserrat, an island in the Lesser Antilles of the Caribbean and an Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom. Near Carr's Bay on the island's northwest coast, Little Bay's charming cove and crystal-clear blue waters serve as an enticing stop for tourists of Montserrat. It replaces the now-abandoned Plymouth, the former capital of Montserrat's southern coast which was devastated by the eruption of the island's Soufrière Hills Volcano in 1997.
There is plenty to amuse and entertain you in this quaint new capital. Restaurants and bars line the glittering shores of Little Bay Beach, while the National Museum of Monserrat and Montserrat Cultural Centre give you a taste of local culture and history. Opportunities to scuba dive among the reefs and observe Monserrat's still-active volcano are found just beyond the city's limits. |
